Les sonideros, au Mexique et partout ailleurs sur le continent américain, sont des soundsystèmes, avec Dj, sono, light show, animations... Chaque sonidero a son propre logo et sa headline (du genre El mas grande, El maestro del sabor ou La maxima autoridad del disco). Lorsqu'ils se produisent dans un quartier, ils font leur promotion en peignant directement les murs, avec la date de leur show. Le blog El Proyecto Sonidero permet de télécharger gratuitement le PDF d'un livre sur ce phénomène: Sonideros en las aceras, vengase la gozadera, sous la coordination de Mariana Delgado et Marco Ramirez Cornejo.

Lots of trendy blogs found a new "hype" in Dancehall culture and are promoting it like crazy, which is a good thing, but I don't understand why they didn't do it before?! Dancehall culture was, is and will always be all about fashion, slengs and trends and to me the 90's were the golden age of this amazing culture.

THERMAL TEAM

Yesterday I had the chance to play a set with the great SOUND PELLEGRINO THERMAL TEAM, we had a lot of fun and big up to Teki and Orgasmic for their dope set.

JAFRICAN THING

There is an Jamaican artist I've always respected, he has a killer flow, mad lyrics, he is always bringing new vibes to the Dancehall scene and goes by the name of BUSY SIGNAL.

He had is first success with the single STEP OUT on the Slingshot Riddim back in 2005 (for the little strory, we were the first Swiss Sound System to play it on Dubplate).



Since then he has been very productive, giving us big hits after big hits, working with the best Deejays and producer from Jamaica.

Not so long ago he voiced a track called DA STYLE DEH, which was remixed by DOUSTER and more, most recently he has been working with M.I.A and Major Lazer and just released this cool track called JAFRICAN THING, new remix coming soon?

When I opened Tropicalizer, I had the idea to come up with a serie of mixes for you, dear blogger and bloggettes.

For the first volume, I decided to go deep in the New House, Less Is More style, keeping a little tropical touch of course...
I'm totaly down with this kind of hypnotic sounds blended with typical Afro or Latino samples, I really believe that this style of electronic music is the bridge between our culture and the third world musics...

Brazilian producer EDU K is in my opinion the best thing right now... I've always been playing his track in my sets and they always tear up the dancefloor!
